Installation Instructions
You need a copy of mIrc, version 5.91 or later, and a copy of GameSpy (This was developed using v2.56, but earlier versions should work fine too.)
And then, ofcourse, you need a version of the mIrc script, Download the latest right here.
Now, when both these are installed, follow these easy steps.
- Unzip the archive to your mIrc directory, remember to extract with subdirectories
- Start mIrc
- Type this command in your mIrc status window /load -rs gs2m\gamespy2mirc.ini
- mIrc pops up a mIRC Script Warning informing you that one or more scripts contains initialization commands, click the Yes button.
- If you have an older version of the GS2M script installed, another box will popup and inform you that these have been unloaded, and that you have to restart mIrc for the changes to take effect. Answer Yes to the popup, and mIrc will quit.
- Then, rightclick in the Status Window and select Setup GameSpy2mIrc, or select GameSpy2mIrc\Setup GS2M from the mIrc commands menu.

The GameSpy2mIrc Setup Docs
When you select the Setup GameSpy2mIrc menu, mIrc will open the GS2M Setup Dialog, where you can customize the following.

This should point the the GameSpy base directory, you can type it, or use the B button to browse to it.
IRC Info Command
This is used by other IRC users to get you to send them your Query Message (Check later in the docs).
Chatters will have to type this command in a channel you are on.
Notify people joining channel
This option, if checked, sends a notice to them. (For more info, check the Messages section).
Note: If you have selected a list of channels to notify (See Notify all channels i'm on / Notify selected channels only), then the script will only inform people who joins one of the channels on that list.
Notify people when starting
You use this to inform people that you are joining a game (For more info, check the Messages section).
Note: If you have selected a list of channels to notify (See Notify all channels i'm on / Notify selected channels only), then the script will only inform people on the channels on that list.

- Notify selected channels only : The same thing will happen, but only to the channels you select by pressing the S button.
- Notify all channels except : You will send to all channels you are on, except the ones you select by pressing the S button.
Select channels to notify
After you have pressed the S button, this screen will display. At game start-time, if you are on any of the channels in the list, they will receive a /me command, or they wont, depending on what you selected in the main window.

Flood Protection
Flood Protection Setup
Because some l33t-h4x0rz decided that they weren't good enough at playing 3D games, they decided to ruin the experience for other players, using my script as a tool.
Thats why this feature has been implemented. Its really simple, you enable flood protection by checking the box.
Attempts before ignore : How many times a user is allowed to use the IRC Info Command in the designated timelimit.
Seconds to watch user : How many seconds from a user first types the IRC Info Command, till the script stops keeping track of him.
Seconds user is ignored : How many seconds you will ignore any and all input from the flooder.
Example using the parameters from the picture :
If L33t_Hax types your IRC Info Command 3 times in 30 seconds, he will be ignored for 2 minutes (120 seconds).

Custom Messages
Custom Messages Setup
In this dialog you can setup what you send to the users in 4 given situations.
onJoin : When a user joins a channel you are on.
/away : What your /away message will be. (Note, it looks like there's some sort of length limit on your away message, but i'm not sure that this is true for all IRC networks)
Start playing : When you start playing. This will always be a /me message, sent to either all channels, or a select subset. Note, if you send to a select subset, then you wont be able to see your actual action in the channel, but no worries, all the other people in there will. :-)
Not playing : If a user types your IRC Info Command and you are not playing.
Announce return message : This message is sent when you return from a game, if so selected from the main setup screen
Using @vars
You can use the following variables in your strings (although, in the Not playing, only @m will be parsed)
| @m | Your IRC Nick. |
| @g | What Game / Modtype you are playing (Modtype will only be shown if applicable). |
| @i | Your IRC Info Command. |
| @s | Name of the server you are playing on. |
| @p | IP of the server you are playing on. |
| @t | Time since you started playing. |
|
You can always press the @vars button to get a quick refresh of what variables are available.

Customizing your querymessage
If you press the Query message button, you will be able to edit your query message.
Your query message is the message that is sent to another user when they type your IRC Info Command.

Explaining GoPlay
First, I think that I should explain what GoPlay does .. If someone in a channel you are on, is launching a game, and you want to join them, before you should either fire up the game, or GameSpy, and then locate the server they are playing on.
Not so anymore, now you can simply right-click the persons nick in the nicklist, and select GS2M Join Game.
If you have setup GoPlay correctly, the game should launch, and connect you to the server that your friend is playing on.
NOTE: This doesn't and will not work with servers that are protected by a password.
Configuring GoPlay
GoPlay comes with a Halflife example (as this is the only game I own), but any user should be able to set it up for other games, using either their manuals, or a quick search of the web. (Please, do not send me questions on how to set this up, but on the other hand, if you have the settings for other games, Quake, UT etc. please forward them to me, and i'll include them)
Adding a new game
Press the New button, and enter the following information in the fields.
Game name: Here you put the name that GameSpy uses. The easiest way to find this out (I think), is to start a game from GameSpy without having mIRC running, and then examine the LaunchInfo.txt in the GameSpy directory.
Look for the line containing GameType, and enter the gamename. (It is vital that it is the same name the GameSpy uses, or else this feature won't work)
- directory: Here you enter the path to the game executable .. press the B button to browse for the file.
If you browse and select the file, the script will enter both the directory and the commandline part
- commandline: This is the critical part, here you enter the commandline that will launch the game, and connect to a specified IP
HalfLife uses +connect <IP:Port> to connect to a server, and therefore, the commandline would look like this
hl.exe +connect @i
The parameters you can use (@i, @m, @s) should be pretty self-explanatory.
Updating a game configuration
First, select the game from the list on the left, the parameters used for the game should appear in the boxes to the right.
Update what you need, and press the Update button. Then the configuration will be updated.
All you have to do now is to right-click a user, select GS2M Join Game, and mIRC will launch the right game.

General Information
The Returner popup
When you launch a game, the script will popup the GameSpy->mIrc returner dialog.
When you are finished playing, press the "Press Here" button in mIrc, to set your mIrc state back to
normal. (Especially if you used the Change Nick option)

Uninstalling the GameSpy2mIrc script
If for any reason you want to uninstall the GameSpy2mIrc script, you can select the GameSpy2mIrc\Uninstall GS2M from the mIrc commands menu.
This will remove all the mIrc data structures (variables and hash tables), and unload the script, but it won't delete neither the script, or your saved user-settings.
If you want to remove it completely, simply delete the GS2M subdirectory within your mIrc directory.
