Tutorial: Category management
(we need help to improve this translated tutorial)jLibrary allows to classify documents in a very easy way. Categories, would help you to classify your documents by groups, topics, etc., having much better catalogued this information. Moreover, you can define favorite documents over a category. All that information about document groups, is specially useful at repository web export time, as it offers an intelligent way to show information to your users.
To work with categories, you must first open the Categories perspective. If you don't have this perspective opened, you can open it using the button with the plus button, that is on the jLibrary upper left part, just below jLibrary toolbar. After pressing this button, choose Other perspective...

After doing this, it will appear the perspective listing. Choose the categories perspectives and press OK.

The categories perspectives have three sections. In the upper left are the different repository categories. In the lower left, appear the favorites defined for each category. Finally, in the bottom of the categories perspective there is the category document listing.

The categories view shows the categories of the current opened repositories. A category can have nested categories. There are a special category, the default category. All not categorized documents, belongs to this default category. Everytime you create a new repository, it will have an unique category defined, the default category. You can find this default category in the categories view, with the name of Unknown (this name is localized, so if you're running jLibrary in an Spanish locale, the default category will be called Sin categoría).
From the categories view, you can create, update and delete categories. To create a new category, you must first press the toolbar button. If you have a repository selected at the moment of pressing the button, then a root category will be created. If you have selected another category, then jLibrary will try to create a child category for the selected category.

Enter the properties of the categories on the opened dialog, and press Accept to create the category. If you want to change category's parent, you can do it using the button that appears near the corresponding text field.
Once you have created the category, you can update it using the second toolbar button from categories view. It will be shown the previous dialog. You can then update category's properties.

Finally, if you wish to remove one category, you can use the remove button. This button is the last one at the categories view toolbar.

When you select a category, the documents that belongs to that category will appear at the documents view. That documents can have a particular importance and also can be favorites within that category. The documents which are favorites, are shown with a special icon.
On the other hand, favorite documents of a category, also appear within favorites view, as it can be seen on the next screenshot:

For adding a document to a category, you can open that document in jLibrary editor and from the properties page you can update the categories for that document:
You can use plus and minus buttons to add and remove categories for that document.
There is a faster mthod to add categories to documents. You must open categories perspective and add to it the repositories view. You can add the repositories view using the menu Administration -> Show View -> Repository View.

The repository view will be added to the categories perspetive. Once added, you can drag documents and directories and drop them over the categories. In this way, you will add very faster several documents to a category without having to edit them one by one.

You can also remove documents from a category in a very faster way. To do this, select them from the documents view, right-click over them and select the menu option Remove from category.

To add a document to the favorites of a category, you can use the context menu operations Add to favorites (unknown) or Add to favorites... that appear when right clicking over any document in the repositories view. The first option, adds the document directly to the default category, removing it from anyother category in which it could be as a favorite. The second option will show you a category selection dialog, where you must choose the category in which you want to add the document as a favorite.

Finally, you can remove a favorite from a category selecting it from the favorites view, and use the contextual menu or the toolbar remove button.
Congratulations ! You know how to classify your documents :-)
